Why I became a Vegetarian?

Updated: Sep 23

Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion. Eating Vegetarian or Vegan food includes various benefits for your internal and external health. Internally, eating vegan food decreases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, tumors, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. It also awakens you spiritually. Externally, it decreases your body mass index, and can prevent you from excessive acne caused by high processed foods; foods that can be high in salts, fats, sugars, and calories. In a global stand point, becoming a Vegan contracts greenhouse gas radiation. Having a Vegetarian or Vegan diet also preserves land and water supplies, and it saves more than one hundred wildlife every year from the brutality of the meat production. I have made the personal choice to fully become Vegetarian after an incident that occurred in regards to my health and well being, in 2019. For some time, I had sensitivity issues in regards to my stomach depending on what I consumed. One day, after ordering out for dinner, and eating fast food meat, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach area. I tried to cleanse my digestive system with fluids and with other various foods, but the pain only increased over time. It ended up resulting in vomiting and being unable to walk or move without feeling sharp pain. I had to go to the emergency room because with everything that I tried to eat or drink each day, was not staying in my digestive system. I was losing weight by the hour and I didn't know why. The doctors informed me that I had an infection of Colitis. I had a flare up. A flare up can usually be caused from consuming something that had food poisoning in it or it can be caused from un-freshly made food. The infection itself causes nausea, diarrhea, drastic weight loss, abdominal pain, and fatigue. After that week, I had lost 10 pounds, and was on a brief strict diet for a short period of time. Once I was fully recovered, I was able to eat normally. After the experience, it honestly changed my life forever. I never ate meat as a baby. Once I started to, I never ate a lot of meat when becoming a toddler, but I would eat bits and pieces of it for many years to gain protein. To me, it has never been a crave of mine or need to eat it. Now, I prefer to substitute it with alternative foods instead. I decided to become Vegetarian to not only improve my health internally, but to also support and love animals. It has made me feel extremely guilty for consuming them, knowing that they have had a life themselves. I have thought to myself, "Why do they deserve to be killed just for my own benefit?" They deserve to be free, and they deserve to live. Just like all of us, as human beings. Ever since I made that decision last year, I have been feeling a lot healthier, and guilty conscious free. I have saved an animals life today and every day, and that truly matters to me. I feel more compassionate, have more empathy, and have more love towards living things. I am having more of a positive outlook on life ever since I made the conscious choice to better myself, and to better the environment. I have also been able to see what the universe has always tried to tell me. Lastly, becoming a Vegetarian helped me become more creative in making meatless recipes that are delicious to me.
